Methods of QFT in Condensed Matter Physics

TMP-TA4, WiSe-2013/14 - Prerequisites

Lecturer: Dr. Oleg Yevtushenko,    Tutor: Dennis Schimmel

Prerequisites (important courses for undergraduates):

·       Quantum mechanics I & II;

·       Statistical physics I;

·       Solid State Theory I;

·       Many Body Physics;

·       Basic courses of mathematics and methods of mathematical physics (linear algebra, analysis, variational methods, etc.).

Note: the course “QFT-CM” is the last course on Solid State Theory. That is why the list of prerequisites is rather long. But even if you do not have some of these prerequisites, you are welcome to attend the lectures/tutorials provided that you are ready to work hard to catch up.

Additional courses which could be helpful:

·       Electrodynamics;

·       Statistical physics II;

·       Mesoscopics;

·       Differential and integral equations;

·       Complex analysis;

·       Equations of mathematical physics.

Optional useful courses:

·       Quantum Field Theory (basic lectures);

Preliminary registration:
   If you are interested in this course and plan to attend, please, send a short e-mail to the lecturer
   (
