To-San Hyong

The described pattern reflects the form taught at the Volkshochschule München and Volkshochschule Pullach as well as associated Taekwon Do schools. Other schools may teach the pattern with slight differences. Ask your master for the correct form for your school. As differences are known to the author, they are marked.

All punches during To-San Hyong are at chungdan (middle height).

Ready posture: Narani-Sogi

1.
Place your left foot into direction L1 in Chongul-Sogi , hip turns 90 degree to left. Simultaneously upper sideways block with the outside of the left forearm. Viewing direction L1.

Without step punch with right fist.

Chongul Chungdan Pandae Chirugi

Movement 1 and 2 will be done on one command.

3.
Turn 180 degree to the right, again stand in Chongul-Sogi 2.4Simultaneously upper sideways block with the outside of the right forearm. Viewing direction R1.

Without step punch with left fist.

Movement 3 and 4 will be done on one command.

Pull right foot to the left. Step wth left foot direction V into Hugul-Sogi. Simultaneously protecting block (Sudo Taebi Makki) with left knife hand.

Step with right foot into direction V in Chongul-Sogi . Simultaneously do a thrust with the fingertips of your right hand in direction V n middle height (chungdan). The hand is vertical, so the palm shows to the left. The left hand simultaneously goes underneath the the elbow of the right arm (palm point down) as an protection. Viewing direction V.

Defense against grip.

Go forward (direction V) wit the right foot into Chongul-Sogi. Simultaneously do a sidewards backfist punch with the right fist to the right. Viewing direction V.

Turn on the right foot 270 degree to the left, and put the left foot in direction R2 into Chongul-Sogi. Simultaneously do a block with the outside of the left forearm in middle height. Viewing direction R2.

Execute movement 9 and 10 at one command.

11.
Turn 180 degree counterclockwise in Chongul-Sogi. Simultaneously do a block with the outside of the right forearm in middle height. Viewing direction L2.

Execute movement 11 and 12 at one command.

Pull left foot to the right foot into Dit-Bal-Sogi, and turn 135 degree counterclockwise. Cross your arms in preparation of a wedging block. Step with left foot in direction R2/H into Chongul-Sogi. Simultaneously execute a wedging block (Hechyo-Makki). Viewing direction is R2/H.

Ap-Chagi with right foot in direction R2/H, maintain arms position as in 13.

Put the right foot direction in direction R2/H in Chongul-Sogi, simultaneously execute a punch with right fist.

Without step punch with left fist.

Execute movement 14, 15, 16 on one command.

Pull right foot back to left foot in Dit-Bal-Sogi, with a 90 degree turn (clockwise), and put the right foot into direction L2/H in Chongul-Sogi Simultaneously execute a wedging block (Hechyo-Makki). Viewing direction is L2/H.

Ap-Chagi with left foot in direction L2/H, maintain arms position as in 17.

Put the left foot direction in direction R2/H in Chongul-Sogi, simultaneously execute a punch with left fist.

Turn 45 degree to left (counterclockwise), put left foot in direction H into Chongul-Sogi , simultaneously execute a high block with outside of left forearm (Chukyo Paro Makki). Viewing direction H.

Step with right foot into direction H in Chongul-Sogi , simultaneously execute a high block with outside of right forearm (Chukyo Paro Makki). Viewing direction H.

turn on the right foot 180 degree counterclockwise put the left foot into Kima-Sogi in direction L1. The Head turns to the left (Viewing direction L1). Simultaneously execute a middle strike with the left knife hand. in direction L1.

Pull left foot to the right foot, and put right foot in direction R1 into Kima-Sogi . 2.5The head is turned to the right side (Viewing direction R1). Simultaneously execute a middle strike with the right knife hand. in direction R1.

Pull right foot to the left foot back into ready posture Narani-Sogi.
